The elder interview gives two pastors or elders a chance to hear more of your story, get to know you, and help you take this step thoughtfully. It is a conversation, not a theology exam—don’t worry! No one is grading your vocabulary.

The elders will also follow up naturally on the answers you gave in your application, especially anything you marked for further discussion. You can expect questions like:

Tell us more about how you came to trust in Jesus. How would you explain the gospel in your own words?
Where have you seen God’s grace changing you? Where would prayer, encouragement, or accountability be helpful?
Tell us about your baptism and what you understand it to mean.
Why are you pursuing membership at FEFC, and what do you believe membership involves?
Do you have any questions about our Statement of Faith, Guiding Convictions, or membership commitments?
What questions do you have for the elders? (This is your chance to get to know them too!)
